Monday Dragons

Rainy Monday, looking at a handful of dragon watercolors that I have sketched up to study these legendary creatures

Dragons… just the word give so many images, that must have been even more incredible as the elders in earlier cultures told tales about these creature by the flickering fires at night all over the world. From the surviving myths we know that these dinosaur-like creatures have spellbound people from China to Europe and South America as long as anybody knows.

And just a quick look at popular stories from Tolkien to Avatar  show how  the dragons  are still very much alive in our storytelling.

The best way I know to learn about things is to sketch them up and I here is my results from a few hours of sketching up dragons in watercolor to try to get to know them better:
