Be the Change you want to see in the World drawing
Wild harvesting or clear-cutting
Drawing about that how we treat the worlds forests may be a good indicator of what philosophies we live after
Do you believe in sustainable, community supporting ways of producing the services and things we need for our modern way of life? Or do you shop after the lowest possible price and support the model that maximise short-term profit as we clearcut the worlds minerals resources, forests, oil and gas reserves and shatter indigenous people, knowledge and cultures as if there where no tomorrow?
Be the change you want to see in the world
In a lot of different product categories, from coffee to timber you can actually vote on the alternative you belive in and want to support, as you pull your influence directly to the check-out counter.
In this drawing I tried to put the alternative business models a bit harsh, but I think that there is a growing understanding that if we want to see a change away from resource demanding industrial farming and deforestation, it starts at the counter in the local supermarket – or even in your own garden, as First Lady Michelle Obama just demonstrated together with local school children in this video from the White house vegetable Garden.
