Man - Hiker on a line and text: "You can only follow one trail at the time" Hiking cartoon and drawing by Frits Ahlefeldt

We are hardwired to only walk one path, to only do one thing at the time

We’re all mono hikers

Text and drawing by Frits Ahlefeldt

Psychologists wanted to test if multi-tasking was possible, it turned out it wasn’t:

All the multi-tasking candidates, even though they thought they were multitasking, was doing something less impressive

Zigzagging, jumping, stressing and wasting more energy trying to change their focus forth and back. They weren’t multitasking at all.

Just jumping between trails, wasting an incredible amount of energy doing it.

Keeping focus and doing one thing is still the best strategy, and most likely that won’t change.

Keeping focus – we optimize best when we only do one path, one step, one thing at the time…
